The International Centre for Documentary Heritage under the auspices of UNESCO (referred to as ICDH) has recently entered into an agreement at the UNESCO Secretariat in Paris on July 10th. The purpose of this agreement is to initiate an ODA project aimed at enhancing the preservation and restoration capacity of documentary heritage in Morocco.

The signing of this agreement involved key representatives, including Tawfik Jelassi, the Assistant Secretary-General of UNESCO, and Man-seop Koo, the president of ICDH(Director of the National Archives of Korea). The primary objective of the ICDH is not only to bolster the preservation and restoration capacity in Morocco but also to extend its efforts to other regions within Africa.

Over a span of 36 months, starting from July 2023 until June 2026, the project is set to focus on enhancing the restoration workshop environment at the National Archives of Morocco. Additionally, the project aims to augment the skills and abilities of its employees. This initiative has been allocated a budget of KRW 350 million. The ultimate goal of this endeavor is to share the invaluable knowledge and technology gained from this project with other African countries to strengthen the preservation and restoration of their historical records.
